excellent choice, sophie, but why so pessimistic? karyotakis is probably the most depressing Greek poet that ever existed. I suggest Kiki Dimoula (you can find her poems translated in French).

I like Kiki Dimoula too. Thank you, I  didn't know her before you talk about her.


Michel Volkovitch, who has translated on his website some of her poems,
is a famous reference in translations from Greek to French.


Kiki Dimoula has just received the European prize for
litterature (march 2010).
